I subtitled this work "amidst the gloom" as in it I aimed to convey a mix of personal response to the covid 19 epidemic. The first of its two movements is quite robust with a few instances of light playfulness and overall, a sense of postive optimism. The second, in two contrasting parts, begins with feelings of quiet ambivalence before it breaks into a quite brief forward driving episode. A short coda, returning to the uncertainityof the movement's opening brings the work an unresolved very quiet closure.
