Sheet Music: Score & Part(s)Sonata for Clarinet and Piano / Don Kay.by Don Kay (2021)
|
Product details
The three movements, fast, slow, fast are interconnected by virtue of cross referencing material between, for example, movement 1 and movement 3, and movement 2 and movement 3. The opening two bar unaccompanied clarinet phrase of the second movement is a direct quote from the central slow movement of my 1962 Sextet for assorted instruments which was premiered in November 2020, 58 years after its composition. That particular phrase, simple as it is, haunted me to the extent I felt I must do more with it, even though the context is somewhat changed.
