An audio CD containing the backing track and click track is required to perform this work. The CD is available from the AMC.
This work uses recorded phone calls between the composer and the members of the Brodsky Quartet, who talk about each other and about music. While the audience hears these recordings, the players imitate the intonation of the voices and weave musical commentary around it. It's a portrait of a string quartet, and could be performed by any string quartet in tribute to the artistry of this marvellous, longstanding group.
