Sheet Music: Scorevariations without a theme (drones ongs) / Sage Jane Harlow.by Sage Jane Harlow (2016)
|
Product details
Four pieces, each about 20 minutes long. Each piece has two sections. Three pieces start with this section: "Play a long, slow, quiet drone. Ensemble voices form a stable ecosystem of sound." The second section presents some variation upon this. The final piece inverts this - the 'theme' is the second section.
The pieces explores trance, drone, meditation. They invite listening and exploration. They are interested in the politics and aesthetics of playing and listening. They explore the self as individual and part of a group. A 'lack' of sense of self (or 'submission' into something 'higher').
