Sheet Music: ScoreWind chimes : for piano solo / Barbara Durham.by Barbara Durham (2003)

Product details
The sound of the Bells in Federation Square was a starting point
with their soft tranquil sustained sonorities gradually dying
away. Then they gradually become more agitated increasing in
velocity and dynamics, sometimes to a loud clanging noise. Even
though these chimes are computer-generated 'random' pieces, I
attempted to write a more structured work to explore these innate
characteristics of the chimes: the sustained
sound dying away, repetition of notes, the harmonics and their
self-propelling force when building up to both smaller and larger
crescendos. These sounds are explored within the framework of the
characteristics intrinsic to the piano: the use of the damper
pedal, tempered tuning, pianistic virtuosity and the very large
range of pitch to exploit in the upper register.
