Sheet Music: Performance Parts
Worlds within worlds : for chamber orchestra / music by Sally Greenaway.
by Sally Greenaway (2015)
"All of nature in its awful vastness and incomprehensible complexity is in the end interrelated - worlds within worlds within worlds: the seen and the unseen. Every decision, every action mirrors, ripples, reflects and echoes throughout the whole of creation. The world is indeed bound with secret knots." - Valentine Worth (Thomas P. Kelley)
Worlds within worlds is an exploration into perspective. A lurching, energetic fanfare depicts bustling cityscapes: melodious metropolis' made up of ever evolving monuments; continuous construction marching skywards; relentlessly driving rhythms and ostinatos symbolising the bustle of the city streets.
But what of the quiet realm of the secluded courtyard, hidden from view and entered only by a narrow laneway: a secret world within the city's walls?
An abrupt interruption returns the concrete and grey calamity of man-made structures and its resultant man-made constructs - the corporate world at its most monotonous.
Wouldn't it be wonderful to escape? The birds overhead observe the jarring chaotic architectural aspect below...
