Library shelf no. 788.32/BRA 7 [Available for loan]
Work Overview
Silvery Breezes is the second movement in the 'Silver Winds Suite'. The duration is approximately 3 minutes. This is a lively and dramatic work. The one-bar piano introduction is a falling figure with based on the F Aeolian Mode which leads into a lively, funky rhythmic motif, that occurs several times throughout the work in different tonal centres. The lively 16th-note melody for the flute is based on the D Flat Lydian Augmented scale. There are several changes of time-signature throughout the work, and many sections of interplay and counterpoint between the flute and piano. Extended techniques include Flutter-tonguing and sustained trills.
