A View from the Eagle's Nest : for harp and guitar / Marian Budos.
Library shelf no. 785.7212/BUD 1 [Available for loan]
Work Overview
This piece is a postcard from Canberra to Perth musicians Darryn Santana and Eliza Bourgault du Coudray, who commissioned this piece for their new album 'Works for harp and Guitar, Part II'.
I chose my favourite view of Canberra - from the Dairy Farmers Hill Lookout in the Arboretum - as an inspiration for this piece. The view of the beautiful nature one can see from the top of the hill in all directions is enhanced by the presence of a large welded-steel eagle's nest sculpture called 'Nest III' (2007) by Richard Moffat. Hence the title.
Shortly after Eliza and Darryn recorded the piece in Perth we met in Canberra and the first place we visited together was the 'eagle on the top of the hill'.
