My favourite Australian art song repertoire
Posted by Australian Music Centre on 22 July, 2013
The AMC asked leading practitioners to select their favourite Australian art song repertoire, to provide delegates to the 2013 International Conference of Vocal Teachers (Brisbane 2013) with an introduction to this rich and diverse landscape.
Combines the catchy riffs and natural expression of a pop song with the extended lyricism and musical interest of an art-song to create a song of great appeal. This is a love song with beautiful imagery in the lyrics (by long-time Greenbaum collaborator Ross Baglin). Great teaching piece for classically trained singers needing to adapt their vocal style and technique to suit the stylistic needs of contemporary popular repertoire.
