Work Overview
Gaudete Fanfare for brass celebrates the excitement of musical performance. Gaudete Fanfare borrows from and re-harmonises the 16th-century carol, Gaudete Christus est natus:
"Rejoice, rejoice, Christ is born."
While not a religious piece, my fanfare seeks to create a virtuosic work for orchestral brass with antiphonal techniques used by Renaissance Italian composer Giovanni Gabrieli, where different groups of instruments engage in lively conversation with one another across the ensemble and the space.
