St Peter's suite, op. 97 : symphonic wind band
by Andrew Schultz (2014)
From the CD St Peter's suite, op. 97
The three pieces that make up the St Peter's Suite were written in the first half of 2014 in response to a commission from St Peter's Lutheran College in Brisbane, the school where I attended high school in the 1970s. Each of the pieces can be performed on its own or in any combination with one or both of the other pieces. The three pieces are linked by my ongoing interest in, and love for, the Australian coastal landscape.
Instrumentation: 1. Sea cliff - Brass and percussion 2. Horizon - Full symphonic winds 3. Fortress - Full symphonic winds ensembles
Duration: 17 min.
Difficulty: Medium — Good high school to professional level
Contents note: Sea cliff -- Horizon -- Fortress.
Commission note: Commissioned by St Peter's Lutheran College.. Composed during a residency at the Cité International des Arts, Paris.
Scores and performance parts for each of the 3 pieces are available separately.
