Work Overview
"Morning Birds" is a choral work designed to be performable live over the internet using video conferencing or similar technologies circumventing the issue of latency. It therefore does not require precise co-ordination. The choral parts consist of repeated fragments of birdsong that create a sound cloud with a hint of a harmonic progression. Above this the soloists sing eight haiku about birds.
The piece can of course be performed live in concert, in which case use of space and possibly movement around the space would be encouraged.
