Dansant avec le vie for flute and bass flute, and for flute and contrabass flute, is a varied transcription of a previous work of mine, Ballando con la Vita (Italian for "Dancing with Life") for trombone and violin, composed in 2013. The ornaments in this work are all new and are not found in Ballando con la Vita. Furthermore, a number of other changes had to be made to render the parts playable by flutes. The title of the work, in addition to the titles of its three movements, are all French translations of the Italian titles found in Ballando con la Vita.
Ballando con la Vita was commissioned by Ben Baldanza, the Chief Executive Officer of Spirit Airways, USA and a highly accomplished trombonist. It was composed especially for performance by himself and his son, Enzo Baldanza, a gifted violin student. Ballando Con La Vita is intended to be a musical portrayal of the emotional and spiritual states associated with the first years of Enzo's life. As such, it is divided into three movements, each with a symbolic title lending itself to multiple interpretations and encompassing symbolic references to these interpretations.
Duration: 6 min.
The composer notes the following styles, genres, influences, etc associated with this work:
Near Eastern music; Jewish music; sacred music
