Work Overview
鲜花节 Xiānhuā jié is a modified transcription of the second movement of my Chinese Traditional Orchestra composition, 玫瑰Méiguī. It is also the first piece in my series Symphonic Jewels of the East. The orchestration of this composition was inspired by the myriad colours of flower festivals in Kaifeng and Luoyang, China and was also intended to reflect the joyous mood of those festivals. Also, like 玫瑰Méiguī, 鲜花节 Xiānhuā jié was also inspired by the music of the Xinjiang Province of China.
