Work Overview

Sketch for Cello is a short character piece with a form derived from the relationship between the 3 sets of adjacent strings on the instrument. It features some odd tuplet groupings, occasional percussive effects, glissandi, lyrical passages and references to jazz harmony. It is dedicated to Maryanne Coyle who gave it it's first performance.
