Work Details

Instrumentation: Alto solo, SSA chorus, piano (2 or 4 hands doubling soprano melodica and jaws harp), percussion (2 players).
Duration: 5 min.
Difficulty: Easy — Aimed at 9-14 year age-group.
Dedication note: For Jeremy Edwards.
The work stems from Gulpilil's account of the Aboriginal dreamtime legend 'The First Sunrise' -- Composer's note.
The work is designed to give maximum flexibility in interpretation, staging and instrumentation. Piano parts may be adapted for other suitable instrumental ensemble.
