Work Overview
Early in 2015, we formed a new guitar trio with my good friends Allan and Leslie Spencer. I thought that it would be nice to write something 'short and sweet' to get us started. This was also a little musical gift for Leslie to be followed by a Song for Allan.
Song for Leslie is easy to listen to, although not so easy to play in some passages. Nevertheless, we enjoyed rehearsing it together and premiered it at the Ainslie Arts Centre in Canberra in December 2015 at an annual guitar society concert.
It was well received, and one particular member of the audience came after our performance and asked if he could join us and form a quartet. As a result of performing this piece, we now play as a quartet with a founding member of Guitar Trek, Mark Norton.
