Work

Red-eye Flight for nonet : Passacaglia on a Fragment by Metheny and Mays

by Nadia Burgess (2014)

Work Overview

This composition portrays the exhaustion suffered by travellers on transcontinental eastward flights, departing at night and arriving early the next morning. Initial inspiration came from the ascending bass theme which opens the final movement of "The Way Up" by Pat Metheny and Lyle Mays (2005). It is a fusion of art music and jazz.
