Work Overview
Afterword is a setting of the luscious and intimate poem of the same name by renowned Australian poet and author David Malouf. Although composed for a vocal quartet, the work could also be performed by a SATB choir.
Afterword was commissioned by Katie Noonan for the Australian Vocal Ensemble (Katie Noonan, Fiona Campbell, Andrew Goodwin and Andrew O'Conner), with assistance from The Australia Council for the Arts. It was one of 11 settings by Australian composers of Malouf poetry commissioned by AVÉ, to feature in their inaugural national tour and debut album.
It appears on AVÉ's 2021-released EP Stars.
