Augustin Barrios Mangorè composed Contemplatión as a solo tremolo guitar work in 1923. He subsequently recorded it in 1928.
Audience member Gwenda Williamson commented that "the music says: despite the sadness in life, don't narrow your gaze. Open your eyes!"
