Work Overview

This piece was inspired by the pastel coloured spring flowers in my garden on a 'still' day with just an occasional light breeze. The accompanying harmonies remain static; the melodic parts need to be voiced including the sustained minims and melodic fragments in the upper 'Soprano' part and a repetitious 'Tenor' counter-motif in the left hand. The una corda pedal enhances the timbre in the 'still' sections with the long held chords. The sustaining pedal is needed but must be released at the rests.
