Work Overview
The plover bird is very important to me culturally. Musically, how I've incorporated aspects of the plover is mimicking his call by using a piccolo, which doubles in unison with the bass clarinet. I've got a three-against-four feel underneath with the vibraphone playing a 3/4 feel and the piano playing a 4/4 feel. It sets up a little groove and all the way through I've got the plover doing its call. It's a fluid score which celebrates freedom in music. - Brenda Gifford
