Trouble in the Ribcage is a fun piece written specifically for younger performers. Darkly mysterious at the beginning, it quickly transforms into a toe-tappingly thrilling roller-coaster, full of lush harmonies and bouncy rhythms, climaxing with a surprising twist. The orchestra was so taken with the piece that they created their own choreography to accompany it, which can be seen here.
Instrumentation: Guitar orchestra: Guitars I, II, III, IV plus bass guitar section.
Duration: 9 min.
Difficulty: Medium — A few time signatures that might be tricky for younger players, but this piece was composed and has been performed many times by a Youth Orchestra.
Written for: Guitarstrophe!
Commission note: Commissioned by Guitarstrophe!.
