Work Overview
This piece is a set of three variations on an original waltz theme, inspired by the way the Katherine River changes its route slightly each year. As sand and silt are washed away and replaced from further upstream, the river in some places looks competely different after the annual flooding has gone down. The three variations describe different routes you might travel around the town of Katherine, Northern Territory, changing similarly as we change places of work and residence, or as partners, friends or businesses come and go. The variations are I: Via Katherine Terrace, describing the colourful experience it can be to walk the main street; II: Floating Down The River which without a boat may be a thing of the past, and III: Everywhere Via Shadforth Road, which describes experiences of visiting the rural area near Springvale.
