Instrumentation: 2 flutes (2nd doubling piccolo), 2 oboes, 2 clarinets (2nd doubling bass clarinet), 2 bassoons (2nd doubling contrabassoon), 4 horns, 3 trumpets, 2 trombones, bass trombone, tuba, percussion (2 players) [2 bass drums, 2 tuned gongs, vibraphone, marimba, crotales, guiro, 2 seed-pod rattles], harp, strings (10.8.6.5.4) *50 players to double on a 'guiro' (see score).
