This work, for narrator and orchestra, is intended for an audience of kindergarden to primary aged children. The interplay between narrator and orchestra is rhythmically intricate, and it would helpful for the narrator to have a recording to practise with before rehearsing with the orchestra. Featured instruments in the orchestra are: oboe with glock, tuba, bass (main soloists) and other instruments with smaller solos: harp, vln, vla, vlc.
Ideally the work is performed with projections of the images from the children's book from which the work stems (also called The Happiness Box).
Duration: 40 min.
Dedication note: For David Griffin and Leslie Greener and all those like them, who allow us to celebrate the triumph of the human spirit in the face of adversity
