Work Overview
The Salon was written in December of 2009, a few months after the premiere of my first opera, Alice in Wonderland. The plot was suggested by Dr Ying Yeh and represents a day in the life of a hair salon, with characters going about their daily business. The Salon is utterly different to Alice in Wonderland. The former is comprised chiefly of ensembles and contains only two arias, the latter contains much solo singing and comparatively few ensembles.
