Work Overview
Based on the tradtional Cuban "Danza" which is the basis of much of curent Afron-Cuban music. This style sprang from a fusion of the European Contradance with Cuban elemants. Harmonically it contains elements associated with jazz of the early C20th and syncopated rhythms typical of Cuban music. It contains a section where the player can improvise over simple chord changes. This section is optional and while contained in recordings by R.Percival and Ken Peplowski is omitted by Mark Walton.
