Work Overview
This new and original setting of Silent Night by Joseph Mohr was composed by Heather Percy for the Canberra Grammar Junior School Chorale and their annual Carols of Nine Lessons in 2013. Percy's motivation in composing a new and original setting of this famous text was to include an Australian composition in the carols service as well as writing a work that would challenge and extend the musical skills of the choristers. The music is gentle and lilting, beginning in unison and progressing into parts with each verse.
