Work Overview
The Money Box takes the story of Hans Christian Andersen's The Money Box and tells the tale with instrumental characters. The money pig is depicted by the solo muted New York sounding trumpet. The rag doll is a combination of the clarinet and woodblock. Several secret quotes are imbedded in the score for those who know lots of songs about money. The music comes to a crashing end when the the money pig falls and the coins are scattered.
