Work Overview
Rachmaninoff willingly allowed five of his Etudes-Tableaux to be orchestrated by Respighi. I hope my transcription of Opus 39, No.5 is as effective! The original key of E flat minor is transposed to E minor, a much better sounding key for orchestra. Although a few late works by Rachmaninoff are still protected by US copyright laws, most of his output, including the Etudes-Tableaux, are in the public domain.
