Waves : for flute, clarinet, alto saxophone and marimba / Benjamin Thorn

Work Overview
When you look out onto the ocean what strikes you is the sense of unity created by subtly changing diversity. In a sense this is also what minimalist music is about, with melodic fragments repeating and transmogrifying. Each movement of Waves only has about two musical ideas but plays with them gently like the sunlight on the sea.
