The title of the composition is Italian for "jewels of the night", which is an allusion to the "jewels" referred to by the great Muslim mystic, Abu Hamid al-Ghazali: Verily, the hearts and minds are treasure houses of secrets and mines of jewels.
Instrumentation: Contrabass flute. (This work can also be performed by bass flute or c flute, if contrabass flute is not available.)
