Score & Part
Pipa cool : for clarinet in Bb, pipa and piano / Tony Wheeler.
Library shelf no. 785.2413/WHE 2 [Not for loan]
Work Overview
This piece in the Latin jazz style employs the agility and
technical flair of the pipa, combined the bluesy smoothness of
the clarinet.
The main melody is essentially an A-B-A form, which forms the
basis of written out, quasi solo sections for each instrument in
turn. Although the clarinet and piano both have featured solos,
the bulk of the solo material lies in the pipa part, allowing it
to fully explore a genre to which it is traditionally
unaccustomed
