Work Overview
Kinds of Blue bathes in a palette of blue sonorities and bluesy, suspended textures.
The work draws inspiration from four of Mark
Rothko's blue-centric works, and also from the blue renderings
in Derek Jarman's Chroma.
Jarman says that without darkness, we wouldn't perceive
light.

Inspired by Mark Rothko, Miles Davis, and Derek Jarman, the piece explores the duality of deep sea blue and light sky blue, paying homage to jazz legend Miles Davis and the Composer's mother, a visual artist.
