Nominations for the 2017 Art Music Awards are now open. The most important new music event of the year will be celebrated in Sydney on Tuesday 22 August 2017, presented by APRA AMCOS and the Australian Music Centre.

Online nominations can be lodged until 5pm AEST on Monday 27 March. This is your chance to influence the shortlists: do you want more women, more emerging names, more mid-career artists, more brazen modernists, more postmodernists, more installations, more hybrid works, more collaborative projects, more acknowledgement of community effort, educators, artistic planning, or regional achievement? The answer is to nominate more and more imaginatively, and the AMC's Australian music calendar for 2016 is a good starting point to refresh your memory of the year that was. Which were the best orchestral, instrumental, vocal, choral and jazz works? Which performances should be shortlisted for the Performance of the Year Award? Whose name should be on the shortlist of the category Excellence by an Individual? Which organisation impressed you in 2016? What about achievements in music education, regional music, experimental music, and jazz?

Nominations are accepted from current AMC or APRA members - also, industry organisations and companies such as educational institutions, broadcasters, retail outlets, recording studios, and promoters are able to nominate. Make sure you read the updated Rules and Guidelines and include the required support materials with your nomination.
