Next Paul Lowin Prizes to be offered in 2013

Following recent discussions between the AMC and Perpetual, the Paul Lowin Prizes planned for 2012 will be deferred to 2013 due to the limited returns from investments held by the Trust. An announcement will be made in early 2013 calling for entries.

The Paul Lowin Prizes consist of the $25,000 Orchestral Prize and the $15,000 Song Cycle Prize. The award-winners in the most recent Paul Lowin Prizes in 2009 were Mary Finsterer, for her work In Praise of Darkness, and Andrew Schultz for his song cycle To the evening star.

The Australian Music Centre connects people around the world to Australian composers and sound artists. By facilitating the performance, awareness and appreciation of music by these creative artists, it aims to increase their profile and the sustainability of their art form. Established in 1974, the AMC is now the leading provider of information, resources, materials and products relating to Australian new music.
