Soundstream Emerging Composers' Forum - selected composers
Five composers have been selected to take part in the Soundstream Emerging Composers' Forum in Adelaide this November. The Forum, organised by the Adelaide-based Soundstream Collective with the AMC as a supporting partner, aims at raising the profile and encouraging the careers of emerging composers through critical review, public performance, recording and audience exposure to their music.
2014 participants are: Alex Chilvers (a postgraduate student at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music); Daniel Portelli (a PhD Candidate at Huddersfield University under the supervision of Liza Lim); Western Australian composers John Pax and Michael Terren (a post-graduate student at WAAPA); and Melbourne-based Samuel Smith who is studying for his Master's degree at the University of Melbourne under the supervision of Elliott Gyger.
A performance of the participants' works by Soundstream Collective, ensemble in residence at the University of Adelaide, will take place on Tuesday 4 November, followed by the announcement of the winners of the three awards for commissioned works worth $5000, $2000 (sponsored by private donors) and $1500 (sponsored by Winston Music).
