Australia’s dynamic ACACIA QUARTET presents Blue Silence, an exhilarating program of miniatures for string quartet by Elena Kats-Chernin. ACACIA were especially chosen by Kats-Chernin to record her complete string quartet works under her guidance. Their resulting album Blue Silence made the 2013 finals for an APRA Art Music Award for Excellence. ACACIA QUARTET’s Blue Silence also received 4.5 stars and the Editor’s Choice in Limelight Magazine, was chosen as CD of the Week on ABC Radio, featured in Qantas In-Flight Entertainment and received the following glowing review from Barry Walmsley: “The quartet’s warmth of tone and blend is coupled with an infectious passion for this new music, making this recording a sound-out! It is not only exciting music, but exciting playing.”
Don’t miss this perfect chance to hear ACACIA’s violinists Lisa Stewart & Myee Clohessy, violist Stefan Duwe and cellist Anna Martin-Scrase perform live at the Utzon Room on Sunday 15 May, 3pm. This concert will feature many of Kats-Chernin’s much-loved favourites, including Eliza Aria, Russian Rag, Butterflying and Slick-Back Tango. This is a concert to be enjoyed by young and old alike
