With its beginnings in 1999, the Andrea Keller Quartet have been said to create music that is “a marker of just how good Australian jazz is”. Long-time collaborators Eugene Ball (trumpet), Ian Whitehurst (tenor saxophone), Joe Talia (drums) and Andrea Keller (piano) perform the distinctive compositions of Keller. They have released four CD’s, which have won an ARIA award, an Australian Jazz Bell Award, plus a further two ARIA nominations.
2012 winners of the Australian Jazz Bell Award for Jazz Ensemble of the Year, the Andrea Keller Quartet launch their fifth album with this concert. Joined by Erkki Veltheim (violin), Helen Ayers (violin), Matt Laing (viola) and Zoe Knighton (cello), they will perform recent works by Keller, including Meditations on Light (2012) and excerpts from Place (2010).
