Bendigo International Festival of Exploratory Music and Capital Venues and Events proudly present the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra in their Victorian and BIFEM début. The ASO’s 40-player BIFEM residency will feature two stunning lyrical programmes at the Ulumbarra Theatre in Bendigo. These two concerts will showcase the skill and power of Australia’s most adventurous orchestra, who are right at home in Australia’s most respected and exciting new music festival. The Friday night concert celebrates the remarkable and dynamic string ensemble writing of Taiwanese-Australian composer Annie Hui-Hsin Hsieh, a world premiere from BIFEM Founder David Chisholm, and the Australian premiere of Tranquil Abiding, the exquisitely atmospheric work by the late British composer Jonathan Harvey. USA conductor Eric Dudley returns to BIFEM in 2018 for his first collaboration with the ASO.

Featured non-Australian music: Jonathan Harvey
