The Doric Quartet bring out the nostalgic beauty of ‘The Four Quarters’, prefacing Karin Schaupp’s stunning interpretation of Turina’s Sonata. Karin leaves the world of Spanish music to join the Orava Quartet for the touching emotion of Iain Grandage’s Black Dogs. Narek Arutyunian seizes the stage with Schoenfi eld’s vibrant, klezmer-inspired Trio, and returns to the spotlight for Stockhausen’s ‘In Friendship’, whose score demands more from the performer than just playing the notes… Nicolas Altstaedt, his cello and its electronic twin explore Carl Vine’s iconic Inner World, a moving celebration of the intimate relationship between instrument and musician.
Featured non-Australian music: Ades, Turina, Schoenfield, Stockhausen
