Event Details
To Listen To Sing brings together a striking quartet of flute, clarinet, cello and percussion in a vibrant program celebrating bold new First Nations voices in contemporary classical music. The composers stories, cultures and musical languages are brought vividly to life through a powerful collection of original works written for and with Ensemble Offspring, that weave together western art music traditions with the world’s oldest continuing culture.
To Listen To Sing celebrates 10 years of Ngarra-Burria: First Peoples Composers and features the work of leading First Nations composers including Brenda Gifford, Nardi Simpson, Eric Avery and James Henry and many more. In 2022, Ngarra-Burria was awarded a Classical:NEXT Innovation Award (Rotterdam) and Ensemble Offspring's To Listen To Sing album was nominated for Best Classical Album at the 2023 ARIA Awards.
Join us for an evening of music, storytelling and connection, and experience the richness and diversity of First Nations voices through live chamber music by Australia’s foremost new music ensemble.
