Product details
The HD Duo of Michael Duke (saxophones) and David Howie (piano) present a striking collection of recent Australian saxophone compositions.
From the dance-like playfulness of Matthew Hindson's Repetepetition to the terrifying portents of an Aboriginal legend depicted in Anne Boyd's Ganba, six composers demonstrate the stylistic variety that is a feature of the current Australian music scene.
Michael Duke is Chair of the Woodwind Unit at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, and David Howie is a member of the Ensemble Unit there while performing widely as an associate artist and chamber musician. Together they produce vivid performances of works for soprano, alto and baritone saxophones; all striking additions to the solo saxophone repertoire.
Duration: 72 min.
CD liner notes contain program notes and biographical notes on the performers.
