Product details
The lockdown in 2021 had given me quite a bit of free time and I found myself delving into some new hobbies, watching figure skating and being the observer to the "mending" and "breaking" of many relationships.
I have often been fascinated by figure skaters, the way they twist and glide so effortlessly on the ice. I was most mesmerised by the way they spin, the way their arms start in an open blossom but as they pull each other closer inwards, they lock together faster and faster until they are a dazzling blur against the white. The physics is particularly interesting, the skaters do work by pulling themselves in thus they decrease their moment of inertia. The work therefore increases the rotational kinetic energy, making them spin faster.
The lockdown had been a testament to many people's relationships. By naturally falling into the role of lending an ear every so often to my friends, I became fascinated by the ups and downs, the "spins" of various relationships. Soon I realised that physics and sociology, two seemingly contrasting concepts, now all of a sudden, don't seem so different anymore. They converged and became the key foundation for the musical architecture for Motions of Equinox.
