Product details
This work reflects something of the history and development of the ABC and the SSO. It was inspired by an early photograph of a 17-piece ABC studio orchestra, with an unusual instrumental line-up including six brass but just six strings. A chamber orchestra made up of these 17 instruments begins the work, later engaging in dialogue with a much larger group comprising the rest of the orchestra. in the closing section the original group falls silent; the orchestra which completes the piece is thuse entirely different from the one which began it.
