Sheet Music: ScorePrelude VIII / Aristea Mellos.by Aristea Mellos (2022)

Product details
Prelude VIII is a meditation on the tide patterns at Seven Mile Beach (land of the Dharawal people) on the NSW South Coast. The beach is split by a large estuary whose freshwater surges towards the sea in the low tide, only to be consumed by the salt water during the high tide.
Prelude VIII opens with 'river music': rapidly undulating arpeggios that recall the opening of Prelude II, before a rhythmic 'sea theme' takes over. As the tide rises, the sea theme grows dominant. The river music briefly returns, before being consumed by the sheer force of the rising tide. As the peak of the tide passes, tranquility descends on this water landscape, and the salt and freshwater intermingle.
