Product details

Quasars are mysterious star-like objects that appear to lie at very great distances, seem to be thousands of times smaller than galaxies, yet they pour out the energy of hundreds of galaxies. The title QUASAR refers also metaphorically to SYNERGY itself, a small group of performers which is capable of radiating tremendous acoustic and emotional energy as well as musicianship.

The rhythmic organization of QUASAR is quite complex and often the four parts that are played are actually reductions of up to ten polyphonic lines. The proportions between the basic impulses, either within the individual horizontal lines or between such lines (vertically speaking), are derived from the Fibonacci numerical series (1,2,3,5,8,13,etc.) and/or its derivative (1,3,4,7,11,18,etc.) These impulses succeed each other often in a constant accelerando/ritardando fashion, as they result from either backward or forward movement through the various sections of the two numerical series mentioned above. Another level of pulsation is thus produced at a much slower rate.

On the micro-level, on the other hand, the rhythmic organization is based on so called AKCAK rhythms of South-East European and Middle-Eastern countries. These rhythms create here the texture that connects one basic impulse to the other intrinsically, as these rhythms themselves are based on similar proportions to the ones of impulses.
