Work Overview

Aubade is a 'morning song' to the sea. It is a musical response to the exhilarating sensations evoked after dawn when, perched on the cliffs of Sydney's coastline, one is confronted by the vast blue expanse of the Pacific Ocean.

Instrumentation: Piccolo, 2 flutes, 2 oboes, 3 clarinets in B flat, bass clarinet in B flat, 2 bassoons, 2 alto saxophones in E flat, tenor saxophone in B flat, baritone saxophone in E flat, 3 trumpets in B flat, 2 horns in F, 3 trombones, euphonium, tuba, timpani, percussion (3 players).
