Deepwater 2: Upwelling : for alto flute and guitar / Karlin G. Love.

Library shelf no. 785.4412/LOV 2 [Not for loan]

Work Overview

Deepwater 2: Upwelling is the second of two pieces for alto flute and classical guitar from my There Is a River project-a collection of duets for guitar and other instruments (clarinet, bass clarinet, alto flute, and Tibetan singing bowl). They reflect upon a process of forgiveness and on the life of the South Esk River as it flows through Cataract Gorge in Launceston, Tasmania, where I was artist-in-residence in 2001.
Preceded by musical expressions of denial, anger, and grief, the Deepwater pieces celebrate inner peace (Deepwater 1) and exuberant joy (Deepwater 2) that may follow from a process of reconciliation with oneself and possibly the offender after a profound hurt.
